There are moments now when I look at people,
and they no longer seem solid.
As if the light that once hid behind their faces
has quietly stepped forward.
Their movements, their words, their smiles,
all so fleeting,
like ripples fading back into still water.
It is not sadness I feel,
but a gentle tenderness,
a knowing that we are all travelers
passing through this brief dream of form.
I see the impermanence in their eyes,
and it awakens a compassion without reason,
a love that asks for nothing,
because it already understands:
we are here for only a moment,
and even that moment is a gift.
And in that seeing,
the world grows transparent,
and what remains is peace.
